Coenzyme Q10 levels decline with age and new research suggests this may be problematic for egg and sperm quality. This high quality Coenzyme Q10 supplement provides an ample source of this nutrient to help support energy production in the developing egg and sperm and scavenge free radicals that can cause cell damage.

CoQ10 is a naturally occurring substance in our body that is essential for energy production on a cellular level. It also has potent antioxidant properties and cell membrane stabilizing effects that may help improve egg and sperm quality. CoQ10 is recommended for women 35 and older, but a lower dose (100 mg) of CoQ10 may be helpful in supporting egg quality in women under 35.

Supplements work best in conjunction with a healthy diet. Consult your physician before beginning any supplement regimen to make sure it is safe and appropriate for you.

EPA/DHA Omega-3 Fish Oil (Pure Omega)

  • Description

Getting enough omega-3 fats in our diet can be difficult without a supplement, especially as women who are pregnant or trying to conceive are warned to limit fish consumption. Our omega-3 fish oil supplement is a purity-tested blend of EPA and DHA, two omega-3 acids thought to play a role in supporting fertility and pregnancy.

Fish oil has been getting a lot of press in recent years as more and more research supports its health benefits for everything from improving memory to protection from stroke and heart attack.  Fish oil may have many potential benefits for fertility and pregnancy as well!

Fish oil is made up of 2 main omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA. Most prenatal vitamins emphasize DHA (if they have any omega-3 fatty acids at all) and contain little or no EPA.  It's important to take an omega-3 supplement with both EPA and DHA. EPA promotes healthy cell membranes , is a precursor of many hormones and is also anti-inflammatory, a great benefit given that inflammation is associated with endometriosis, PCOS, poor uterine environment and potentially even early miscarriage. DHA is vital for the baby's brain development. Research also indicates that a diet rich in omega-3 fats is associated with improved embryo quality during an IVF cycle.

It can be challenging to consume adequate omega-3 fat through food sources, especially since women who are trying to conceive or are pregnant are warned to limit their intake of fatty fishes, the main source of omega-3 fatty acids.  While vegetarian sources of omega-3 fatty acids, like flaxseed oil contain omega-3 fats, they must be converted by the body to the active EPA and DHA. Unfortunately, our bodies aren't very good at this conversion.

Our EPA/DHA Omega-3 Fish Oil supplement contains the quality-assured, purity-tested omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA.

Supplements work best in conjunction with a healthy diet.  Consult your physician before beginning any supplement regimen to make sure it is safe and appropriate for you.

  • Description

Myoinositol plus Magnesium is one of the key supplements recommended when a woman has PCOS as it has been shown to help lower insulin and testosterone levels, promote ovulation, restore menstrual cycle regularity and lessen symptoms in women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. New research suggests myo-inositol may also help to improve egg quality when taken with melatonin prior to an IVF cycle.

Myoinositol Plus Magnesium

Myoinositol Plus Magnesium contains myo-inositol, which is part of the B-vitamin complex and a known insulin sensitizer, and magnesium, a mineral that is important for optimal metabolism and energy production. Supplementation with myoinositol in women with PCOS has been shown to lower levels of circulating insulin and testosterone, promote ovulation, improve egg quality and lower risk of ovarian hyperstimulationduring an IVF cycle, as well as decrease hirsutism and acne. New clinical data suggests that myo-inositol may also help to improve egg quality in patients with a history of IVF failures when taken with melatonin for three months prior to IVF.

Myoinositol Plus Magnesium also supports healthy mood and the nervous system as inositol is an important, naturally occurring component of cell membranes and plays an important role in the action of key neurotransmitters. The combined benefits of inositol + magnesium may also be beneficial for treating symptoms of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS). *

Pulling Down the Moon Nutritional Program

Supplement Packet with Prenatal Vitamin • Probiotic Powder • PhytoNutrient Powder

The Pulling Down the Moon Nutritional Program is provides a high-quality prenatal vitamin, probiotic powder to support gut health and an antioxidant drink made from certified organic fruits and vegetables to strengthen the body's defenses against oxidative stress.

Even the healthiest diet may provide insufficient levels of nutrients that are important for optimal health and reproduction.  At our holistic centers in Chicagoland and Rockville, we treat many, many women who are struggling with fertility issues like PCOS, endometriosis, poor egg quality and short luteal phase.  Stress, extended use of birth control pills and digestive issues like constipation and diarrhea are common in women who are struggling with their fertility and/or taking fertility medications.  Because these conditions may negatively impact a woman's nutritional status and fertility, our supplement packet includes key nutrients that other prenatal vitamins may not contain, or may only contain in minimal amounts.  Also, because purity and potency are important, our vitamins are triple-certified to ensure Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) so you can be confident that you are not introducing toxins or contaminants that may negatively impact fertility.

The Pulling Down the Moon Nutritional Program (PNP) is a three-part nutrition system that provides premium prenatal nutrition with added support.

Bolster your body's antioxidant defenses with our 100% certified organic fruit and vegetable drink. Oxidative stress has been implicated in both male and female fertility and our PhytoNutrient is a quick and 100% organic way to ensure you're getting enough of these key compounds in your diet.

Our busy lives make it very difficult to get all the fruits and vegetables we need for optimal fertility nutrition. One scoop of this 100% certified organic vegetable and fruit drink per day bolsters the nutritional quality of the diet by providing antioxidants in their most effective form from whole foods. Free radical damage is currently under scrutiny for its potential role in both male and female infertility and our PhytoNutrient Powder is a convenient way to combat the ravages of oxidative stress.

In addition, PhytoNutrient Powder works to make the body's internal environment less acidic. An acidic vaginal environment can be hostile to sperm and overly friendly to unwanted critters like the candida microbes that cause yeast infections. An alkaline environment also promotes good kidney function and the excretion of metabolic toxins. PhytoNutrient Powder works especially well with the probiotic powder as the flax and inulin in PhytoNutrient Powder help to nourish the beneficial bacteria.

Again, purity is important.  This product is USDA certified organic, assuring it is produced, processed and certfied to be consistent with national organic standards.

Supplements work best in conjunction with a healthy diet. Consult your physician before beginning any supplement regimen to make sure it is safe and appropriate for you.

This high quality and very comprehensive prenatal vitamin is the gold standard for pregnancy. The daily dosage of 1 packet of 7 tablets/softgels includes: 1000 mcg of folic acid, purity-tested omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), ample B-vitamins, as well as an easily absorbed form of iron and other nutrients supportive of healthy pregnancy. Read more below.

Our Prenatal Vitamin Packet is one of the most comprehensive prenatal vitamins available. Here are some of the standout features that make this packet THE choice for pregnancy:

  • 1000 mcg folic acid.*
  • Extra B-vitamins. Our Prenatal Vitamin Packet has100% or more of your daily requirement for all the B-vitamins, which are vital for the process of ovulation. Many women who are trying to conceive have been taking oral contraceptives that can deplete B vitamins. B vitamins can also be depleted by stress, which can be a side-effect of fertility treatment.*
  • Quality-assured, purity-tested omega-3 fatty acids. While most prenatal vitamins emphasize DHA (if they have any omega-3 fatty acids at all), this packet includes EPA along with DHA. While DHA is vital for baby’s brain and vision development, EPA is the essential fatty acid that promotes healthy cell membranes and curbs inflammation in the body. This anti-inflammatory action may be important for fertility, especially important for patients with PCOS or endometriosis.*
  • 30 mg of gentle iron,  in the form of the more easily digested iron glycinate, as opposed to cheaper forms of iron, which may cause constipation and other GI side-effects.*
  • 200 mg of choline, a nutrient that supports fetal brain development.  Choline may also play a role in healthy genetic expression in the early embryonic environment.  *
  • High-quality calcium (in the form of calcium citrate, which creates less gas and bloating than calcium carbonate) and magnesium.*
  • Optimal levels of antioxidant vitamins and safe levels of pre-formed Vitamin A.*
  • No fillers, trans fats, stabilizers or other additives. *

  • Description

Stress, antibiotic use and even fertility treatment can pose a threat to the balance of our vaginal and intestinal flora. Research suggests probiotics support good digestion, elimination, blood sugar regulation and potentially prevent yeast infection. Read more below.

Research suggests probiotic supplement may help optimize digestion, regulate blood sugar levels, and support hormone balance. Our body, especially our large intestine, plays host to numerous beneficial bacteria. These good bacteria help break down the final products of digestion, improve nutrient absorption and remove toxins and hormone metabolites from our digestive tract. They also help to prevent colonization by yeast and bad bacteria that can cause localized infection and systemic illness. Antibiotics, hormonal medications, excessive stress, and poor diet pose a threat to the beneficial bacteria and a probiotic supplement can help bring our intestinal flora back into balance.

Probiotics are believed to help improve digestion by supporting regular elimination and may be especially helpful for women with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), constipation, bloating and/or diarrhea. Good digestion is vital; it maximizes nutrient absorption and reduces any local inflammatory response, thereby supporting an optimal environment for conception, implantation and a healthy pregnancy. Another benefit is the potential role of probiotics in preventing yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis, both of which are associated with miscarriage and poor IVF outcome. Probiotics have also been shown to support blood sugar regulation, hormone balance, and regular elimination, which prevent the reabsorption of hormones targeted for removal. Probiotics can be a key part of creating a healthy internal environment for conception as well as overall health.

Supplements work best in conjunction with a healthy diet. Consult your physician before beginning any supplement regimen to make sure it is safe and appropriate for you.

THIS PRODUCT AUTOMATICALLY SHIPS EVERY 30 DAYS !

This hypoallergenic rice protein shake provides a complete source of protein that is easy to digest and delicious. See below for some fabulous fertility-friendly smoothie recipes!

A fertility-friendly diet is nutrient dense.  Put another way, good fertility nutrition means eschewing empty calories and choosing foods that pack a nutritional wallop.   This can be particularly challenging in the morning when we're pressed for time, and later in the afternoon, when our body is craving something sweet to pick us up and carry us through the rest of the day.  These are times when we are particularly vulnerable to the caffeine and sugar rush provided by treats in the coffee shop and/or the vending machine.

Enter the smoothie.  Like the "salvage stew" that many of our moms created out of the produce drawer, a smoothie is a place where we can chuck in lots of nutritious ingredients, press a button and, presto!  A satisfying treat that is quick, nourishing and satisfying.  Our delicious Rice Protein Shake is a hypoallergenic rice protein medical food that provides a complete source of protein that is easy to digest and delicious and makes a great addition to smoothies.

Our Pulling Down the Moon nutritionists have created some smoothie recipes that are not only nutritious, they are filled with nutrients that support fertility.  The recipes below experiment with almond milk and coconut water as the smoothie base.  To add extra nutrient punch to these shakes, we suggest add-ins like Probiotic Powder and antioxidant and fiber-rich organic PhytoNutrient Powder.  Please note, too, that these smoothies do not use crushed ice.  According to Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, a fertility diet does not emphasize cold foods.

Adequate Vitamin D levels are associated with optimal hormone balance, proper blood sugar regulation, and IVF success, including donor egg recipients. If you have PCOS, Vitamin D may help lower blood sugar levels and increase menstrual cycle frequency.

Vitamin D is often associated with bone health, but vitamin D is also vital for a number of processes in your body related to fertility.  Studies have shown that vitamin D may:

• play a role in estrogen and insulin metabolism

• improve hormone and insulin regulation in PCOS and may inhibit the growth of fibroids

• help to lower blood sugar levels and increase menstrual cycle frequency

Recent research has shown that women with higher blood levels of vitamin D going through IVF had higher pregnancy rates including donor egg recipients.. Women are advised to have their vitamin D levels tested, and the majority of women who do have lower than optimal levels should consider supplementation to support fertility. Women trying to conceive should take a vitamin D supplement not only to improve their fertility, but also for optimum health.
